Challenge

Architectural information is often fragmented across websites, maps and reference sources, making it difficult for enthusiasts and travellers to discover significant buildings, plan visits around them or simply research them.

Key Insight

Architectural discovery isn't a single journey. Some users know exactly what they're looking for, while others want to explore by location, architect, style or simply through visual inspiration.

Design Response

I designed ArchiFinder around complementary ways of exploring the same curated content, combining visual discovery with search, filtering and an interactive map so users could move naturally between researching architecture and finding it in the real world.

Outcome

The concept established a scalable platform that made architectural discovery more accessible and engaging, connecting rich editorial content with location-based exploration across desktop and mobile.

UX Discovery & Research

The discovery phase covered audience research, competitive analysis, user flow mapping, and design direction — establishing the strategic and visual foundations for the platform.

Comparative Research

Industry products were refined but their content wasn't relevant to casual users, while consumer products were educationally focused but lacked visual polish — confirming the opportunity for a design-led product that served both.

Built in Google AI Studio

The high-fidelity UI was built and iterated directly within Google AI Studio — translating the design direction into a fully functional web platform. The result was a clickable, navigable product that demonstrated the full experience across both list and map views, ready for stakeholder review and user testing.

The POC demonstrated core user journeys across both discovery modes — browsing architecturally significant buildings by city, filtering by style or architect, and drilling down into detailed building profiles without leaving the page.
